Octolift is a new Shopify app from Craftshift that shows how ready each of your products is to be recommended by AI shopping assistants such as ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude, Perplexity and Shop. It gives every product an AI visibility score from 0 to 100, suggests fixes for the listing, and tracks how your products do on real shopper questions. You can install it from the Shopify App Store and start free with 5 products.
Why do Shopify products need to be ready for AI assistants?
More shoppers now start with a question instead of a search box: “What is a good waterproof hiking jacket under $200?” The assistant answers with a few products, and the shopper often clicks straight through. If your product is not in that answer, it is not in the running.
AI agents shopping on Shopify read products through Shopify’s global product catalog. What the catalog can see, and how clearly your listing describes the product, decides what an assistant can recommend and quote. As Craftshift puts it in the Octolift launch post, a perfect listing the catalog cannot see is still invisible.
That makes AI visibility a different job from classic SEO. Keywords matter less than clear, complete facts: what the product is, who it is for, its sizes, materials, dimensions, price and availability.
What does Octolift check on each product?
Every product gets a score split into two parts:
| Pillar | What it looks at |
|---|---|
| Listing quality | Title, description, product category, category fields and variant attributes. A language model judges how well the writing answers shopper questions. |
| Agent readiness | Whether the product is found in the Shopify catalog, has its core fields, priced variants, policy links, correct availability, media and reviews. This is a live catalog query each time you open the product. |
A catalog panel shows what Shopify actually extracted from your listing: selling points, features, specs and attributes. Anything missing is marked “Not specified”, so you see the gaps an assistant would see.
The model that rates the text is fixed, not something you pick. That keeps scores comparable between products and over time.
How does “Improve with AI” work?
When a product scores low, Octolift drafts improvements you can review:
- A rewritten description that keeps your existing claims.
- Alternative titles under 70 characters.
- Values for empty category fields, limited to Shopify’s own taxonomy.
- A better product category when the current one is wrong or missing.
Suggestions are checked against the same rater and revised up to two rounds. They must not invent facts: no new materials, measurements or certifications, and they stay in your listing’s language. Nothing changes in your store until you press Save or confirm Apply all suggestions. After a save the product is rescanned. Text scores update right away, while catalog scores can lag a little while Shopify syncs. Title and description changes can be undone for 30 days.
What else does Octolift track?
- AI rankings. Add shopper questions (or let the app suggest them), and Octolift runs them as live catalog searches per country and checks the answers from ChatGPT and Gemini. Paid plans re-check your questions weekly.
- Knowledge base. It tests ten common shopper questions about your store (shipping, returns and similar), flags the ones your published pages do not answer and can draft answers from those pages.
- Agentic sales. It shows orders and visits from AI channels (ChatGPT, Google AI Mode and Gemini, Microsoft Copilot, Shop) over 7, 30 or 90 days, by assistant and by product.
Octolift does not change your theme, does not read customer names, emails or addresses, and does not promise a ChatGPT rank. No tool honestly can.
How much does Octolift cost?
Every plan includes every feature. Plans differ only in how many products you can analyze and how many shopper questions you can track. A product counts once, the first time it is analyzed, and the count does not reset each month.
| Plan | Price | Products analyzed | Shopper questions tracked |
|---|---|---|---|
| Free | $0 | 5 | 5 |
| Starter | $29/month | 100 | 20 |
| Advanced | $59/month | 500 | 40 |
| Premium | $99/month | 2,000 | 75 |
| Enterprise | $199/month | 10,000 | 125 |
Yearly billing saves about 17% (for example $290 a year for Starter). Prices are from the App Store listing in October 2026; check the Octolift listing for current terms.
How do product images affect AI visibility?
Media is one of the core fields Octolift checks under agent readiness. A product with no images, or with variants that show the wrong photo, gives an assistant less to work with and gives a shopper less reason to click.
That is where our own app fits in. If Octolift flags products with missing media, Smart Bulk Image Upload can attach thousands of photos from Google Drive or Dropbox in one run, matched by SKU, barcode, product title or metafield, with a preview before anything changes. Name your files using a clear convention, see how matching works, and read our guide to Shopify image size requirements so every photo is sharp and within Shopify’s 20 MB and 20 megapixel limits.
How do you get started with Octolift?
- Install Octolift from the Shopify App Store. Your storefront must not be password protected, or the catalog cannot see your products.
- Analyze your first product from the Home page. Starting with your five best sellers on the Free plan is a good test.
- Open Improve with AI, review the suggestions, then Save or Apply all suggestions.
- Add a few shopper questions on the AI rankings page.
- Work through the Products page, starting with the listings that need the most work.

Who is Octolift for?
It is most useful for stores whose products have comparable specs (sizes, materials, dimensions), stores with large catalogs, and merchants who already see AI channels in their sales reports. It works on every Shopify plan. If you sell a handful of products that are already well documented, a free scan will tell you quickly whether there is anything to fix.
Summary
AI assistants recommend the products they can find and understand. Octolift scores each Shopify product for listing quality and agent readiness, drafts fixes you approve, and tracks rankings and AI sales so you can see what changed. Complete media is part of that score, so make sure every product and variant has the right photos: try Smart Bulk Image Upload free on the Shopify App Store, and add Octolift to see how AI assistants read your catalog.
